The Rolls-Royce Spectre is an electric model from the most luxurious brand in the world. The first EV ever to come out of Goodwood, Rolls-Royce has worked extremely hard on the Spectre, and it totally shows when one takes a closer look at it. The Spectre is a two-door, four-seat coupe and in typical Rolls-Royce fashion, is fully loaded to the gills with awe-inspiring features. The Rolls-Royce experience is not diluted even a bit in this new EV by Rolls-Royce. Being the first electric vehicle from the legendary brand, the stakes were pretty high during the development of the Spectre. It had to satisfy the typical Rolls-Royce buyer while satisfying the expectations of electric vehicle buyers simultaneously. Let’s take a look at 10 things that make the Spectre special.
1 – The Rolls-Royce Spectre Is Based On An All-Aluminum Chassis

The Rolls-Royce Spectre is built on an all-aluminum space frame chassis. This is done to keep the weight in check. This is necessary, too, considering the sheer size of the Spectre. A steel chassis would have made it extremely heavy, which negatively affects performance as well as handling and efficiency. Hence, Rolls-Royce decided to go ahead with an all-aluminum space frame and that has really benefited the Spectre in terms of performance and range. In fact, this lightweight chassis gives Rolls-Royce higher chance to add more features as they don’t have too much weight, to begin with. Also, this new chassis is extremely rigid and provides superb torsional rigidity that aids the dynamic ability of the Spectre. It handles beautifully well for something so big and that is mostly due to the stiff chassis that allows it to handle all that torque without flexing.
2 – It Features A Rich, Luxurious Interior

Any Rolls-Royce product is always well-regarded for its amazing interiors, and the Spectre is no different. Like with all Rolls-Royce cars, the interiors can be customized to the absolute limits. But even with the standard options, the interiors of the Spectre are extremely luxurious and literally ooze luxury. They surely are fit for a Rolls-Royce and those familiar with Rolls-Royce cars will find themselves at home in the Spectre. The Spectre also gets the Rolls-Royce trademark starlight headliner with 5500 tiny stars. All other Rolls-Royce models get only 1,400 stars instead. Also, the headliner in the Rolls-Royce Spectre extends to the doors, which makes it look even more special.
3 – The Spectre Has An Illuminated Front Grille

The Spectre gets a phenomenal illuminated front grille that looks amazing at night. The Pantheon Grille, in Rolls-Royce speak, has 22 LEDs that illuminate the grille and completely change the appearance of the Spectre. The massive grille looks spectacular at night, and changes the way the Spectre looks! The main thing that this spectacular grille achieves is the fact that it makes the Spectre instantly recognizable as a Rolls-Royce even from a distance. And, who would not want that considering the owners would be spending almost half a million dollars to get their hands on one? The massive lit grille is standard on the Spectre and that will surely become a trademark of the Spectre.
4 – It Rides On Massive 23-Inch Wheels

Among the other things that are huge when it comes to the Spectre, the wheels are also one. The Spectre gets massive 23-inch wheels, which are among the biggest found on any car. These big wheels really enhance the overall stance and looks of the Spectre and do not make it look top-heavy. Instead, these wheels make it look very wheel balanced and planted. The Rolls-Royce customization catalog offers many options for wheels. However, the 23-inch size is what’s the talking point here. They look simply amazing and completely transform the look of the Spectre. It also features the Rolls-Royce trademark logo at the center of the wheels that stay perfectly vertical irrespective of the position of the wheels.
5 – The Spectre Has The Lowest Drag Coefficient Of Any Rolls-Royce

The Spectre has been designed in such a manner in terms of aerodynamics that it is one of the slipperiest cars around. In fact, it has the lowest coefficient of drag of any Rolls-Royce to date. It has a drag coefficient of just 0.25, which is simply amazing. A low coefficient of drag not only aids acceleration and performance in general, but efficiency as well, something that’s of utmost importance in an electric vehicle, considering manufacturers try hard to extract the maximum range from their EV products. Although efficiency and Rolls-Royce sound a bit strange in one sentence, but it becomes important when it comes to electric vehicles. Even the Spirit of Ecstasy logo is designed in such a manner that it reduces the aerodynamic drag significantly.
6 – It Features Four-Wheel Steering For Those Tight Turns

Despite being so huge, the Spectre has a turning circle of just 12.7 meters. This has been made possible due to the brilliant four-wheel steering system provided in the Spectre. This makes it extremely maneuverable even in the tight confines of the urban environment. At slow speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to that of the front wheels thereby reducing the turning circle radius significantly. In fact, the turning circle radius is almost unreal for such a huge car thanks to this amazing four-wheel steering system. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels thereby providing added stability to the Spectre. The system automatically detects the speed of the vehicle in order to decide whether to turn the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels or in the opposite direction. There isn’t any manual control for the same.
7 – The Rolls-Royce Spectre Offers An Impressive Range

The Spectre has an estimated range of 320 miles, which is really good for such a large and heavy car. This range is not unheard of in this category but is excellent when one considers the weight and the sheer size of the Spectre. Coupled with its fast charging capabilities, one can comfortably use the Spectre even for inter-city trips. Although Rolls-Royce owners have typically been found to use their vehicles for urban commutes to the golf course or to a star-studded party at a five-star hotel, and hence, this range will honestly satisfy most of the prospective customers of the Spectre. It is also anticipated that it will have different drive modes that will change the amount of performance available from the electric motors, and hence the range.
8 – No Dearth Of Power Or Performance Here

Even after being so large and heavy, the Spectre packs in some serious punch. It features a dual-motor electric powertrain that delivers an earth-shattering 577 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. This power is more than enough to propel the Spectre to unimaginable speeds in a short amount of time. Even more so, considering the entire torque is available from the get-go, being an electric vehicle. It packs in some serious punch and is more than enough to propel this luxurious barge of a vehicle. Although Rolls-Royce have not officially released any acceleration figures for the Spectre, based on the power and torque figures and the weight of the car, it is estimated that the Spectre will do the 0-60 MPH run in around 4.4 seconds.
9 – The Price Can Touch Half-A-Million With Options

The Spectre is one of the most expensive EVs in the market with a staggering starting price tag of $413,000. Although there are many electric hypercars out there with much more exorbitant price tags, the Spectre’s price, too, is no less shocking! Also, the price mentioned above is just the base price, and ticking the checkbox for a few options here and there takes the price north of half a million dollars pretty quickly. In fact, the available level of customization is so high and options so expensive that one can even take the price to almost a million dollars. However, the typical Rolls-Royce buyers don’t usually care too much about the price given the legacy of the brand and the impeccable hand-built luxury that it offers.
10 – It Is Still Sometime Away5

The prospective owners of the Spectre will have to wait until the end of 2023 to get their hands on one as the demand is through the roof and the fact that it will be hand-made has pushed the delivery periods further ahead. As with all Rolls-Royce cars, the Spectre, too, is fully custom-made based on what the customer wants. Due to this, the waiting time for the Spectre can take anywhere from six months to more than a year based on the level of customization the prospective owner opts for. Deliveries are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023 and that means, we will be seeing many of these by the end of this year. Although not officially revealed by Rolls-Royce, they have received quite a significant amount of orders for the Spectre, going by the reports in the media. That means deliveries will take that much longer as each one of these masterpieces is hand-built.
