WhatsApp has added the feature for users to adjust the visibility of their “Last Seen” status on a contact-by-contact basis in a new privacy-centric update released in August 2022. This is a win-win update for all WhatsApp users. This is how you can hide your WhatsApp ‘Last Seen’ status from your specific contacts.
WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging networks. If you use WhatsApp daily, you must be aware that the status “Last Seen” of the specific contact you’re talking with shows above the chat, enlightening you when that specific contact was active or when they opened the app last time.
WhatsApp used to let you inactivate your Last Seen status before. As a result, the other contacts couldn’t see when you were last online. Nonetheless, the setting’s options were only limited to “Everyone”, “My Contacts”, and “Nobody”. Before, there was no option to make exceptions for the user’s specific contacts.
Fortunately, WhatsApp is updating things up by including the option “My Contacts Except…” that enables you to select specific contacts which will not be able to see your last seen status on Whatsapp.
Here’s how to edit your privacy settings in the WhatsApp app for mobile.
1. In WhatsApp, tap the Settings tab (the cog icon) at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap Account -> Privacy
3. Tap Last Seen.
4. Select My Contacts Except…
5. Choose the people from your contacts list that you want to hide your Last Seen status from.
6. When you’ve finished selecting contacts, tap Done in the top-right corner of the screen.
In case you’re not able to see the new option, check if your WhatsApp is up to date with the latest version, then try it again.
