AirPods Pro 2 may come with lossless audio support and a sound making charging case

Airpods Pro 2 will be the first ever airpods model to support Lossless audio Codec.

According to Apple analysts, the Airpods Pro 2 may come with the Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC), a type of file compression which preserves and keeps the original audio files intact resulting in an original and higher sound quality. Currently, there isn’t an Airpods model which supports lossless audio.

Every Airpods model uses Bluetooth to deliver the audio files from your devices to the Airpods. The Bluetooth limits the Airpods to use Advanced Audio Codec (AAC). Advanced Audio Codec is a form of audio compression which loses and degrades the original audio file.

The main disadvantage of the Lossless audio is that the files take up more storage space and can quickly utilize your mobile data if you are streaming something online.

In order to make ALAC work on Airpods Pro, Apple will have to switch from Bluetooth to some other technology or work around the Bluetooth to maximize its benefits.

Also, there is a possibility that the charging case will emit sound if the case is separated from your Airpods in order to locate it.

The release of Airpods Pro 2 is expected in the fourth quarter of 2022, almost three years after the release of first Airpods Pro.
