Face ID usually lets you unlock your iPhone quickly and without any fuss, but if you have tried unlocking your iphone with a mask on, you know how difficult and irritating it gets.
The great news is that the new iPhone software update, iOS 15.4 includes a latest feature which enables you to unlock your iPhone even with a mask on.
This feature is only available on iPhone 12 and 13 models, including iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max.
How to set up Face ID with a mask
First of all, make sure that you have updated your iPhone to iOS 15.4
Upon turning it on after updating the software, it will give you a notification of setting your face ID right away, but in case it doesn’t then just follow the below mentioned steps.
- Open Settings and tap the Face ID & Passcode option. It will ask you to enter your passcode.
- Toggle on the Face ID with a mask switch and tap Use Face ID with a mask.
- Scan your face to set up your Face ID. You don’t need to be wearing a mask while doing this as it is mostly scanning your eyes.
- If you also wear glasses then head back to the Face ID & Passcode menu and select Tap Add Glasses.
This way you can unlock your iPhone while wearing both glasses as well as a mask.
Note: The Face ID saves what your glasses look like. Therefore, you will have to scan every pair of glasses beforehand otherwise it will not unlock if it doesn’t recognizes them.
